In March 2020, Ronald McDonald House Fiji together with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services signed an agreement for the construction of an 11 bedroom fully furnished House program at the Labasa Hospital.
The Ronald McDonald House in Labasa opened on Tuesday March 15th 2022. Situated right outside of the children’s ward of the Labasa Hospital, the house accommodates parents/caregivers of seriously ill or injured children that come from outside of Labasa and admitted at the hospital.
The Ronald McDonald House program provides communal space for guest families. Hot meals are prepared daily from the fully functioning kitchen. 11 private bedrooms, a dining area, children’s play area, bathrooms with hot water shower and laundry facilities are available for use by families. Ronald McDonald House Fiji have direct over-sight and daily staffing of the House program in Labasa which operates 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The trained staff ensure the day-to-day and operation of the House and ensures guest families are supported and the facility is properly managed.
The team at the Ronald McDonald House and the medical staff at the Labasa hospital work together to determine who is provided accommodation. There is no cost to staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
